The courses available for selection has its own requirements without which no provisional admission whatsoever would be offered to any candidate who fails to meet the requirements.

Here are list of courses offered in MAUTECH Yola. The following undergraduate programmes are offered in the Modibbo Adama University of Technology, formerly Federal University of Technology, Yola. Candidates seeking admission into the institution may consider any of the variable course options/choices.

List of Courses offered in MAUTECH Yola

1. School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT): The School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology is one of the School of the University. It was established in 1989 and became fully functional in 1990. It now has eight departments that award Bachelor of Technology Degree in Agricultural Economics and Extension, Animal Science and Range Management, Crop Production and Horticulture, Crop Protection, Fisheries, Food Science and Technology, Forestry and Wildlife Management and Soil Science. In the eight academic departments, there are 84 academic staff in the following cadre.
Professors = 14
Associate Professors = 08
Senior Lecturers = 23
Others = 45

2. School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET): The School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET) was formally established in October, 1990 with an initial intake of 60 students at the 200 level.  Since then the student intake and enrolment have grown rapidly with the student intake for the current session, 2014/2015 put at about 1,184.

The NUC Accreditation for all the programmes in the School had expired by 2010 and presently, we are preparing to re- accredit our entire programme (2015). Similarly, the Department of Chemical, Electrical and Electronics and Mechanical Engineering had their COREN Accreditation expired by 2015, and are preparing to re-accredited their programmes too. While Agricultural and Environmental and Civil Engineering Department’s COREN Accreditation will expire by 2018.

3. School of Environmental Sciences (SES): Currently the School of Environmental Sciences (SES) has six (6)    Departments as listed below:

  1. Department of Architecture
  2. Department of Building
  3. Department of Geography
  4. Department of Industrial Design
  5. Department of Surveying & Geo-informatics
  6. Department of Urban & Regional Planning

4. School of Pure and Applied Sciences (SPAS): The School of Pure and Applied Sciences (SPAS) is the oldest School in the University, having been established in 1981 at the inception of the University.  It was then known as School of Sciences with four (4) departments viz: – Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics/Statistics and Physics.  This arrangement existed till June 1984 when the University was merged with the University of Maiduguri and was renamed Modibbo Adama College, Yola.

5. School of Management and Information Technology (SMIT): The School of Management and Information Technology was established in 1990 to offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in three main departments, namely, the Department of Information Technology, the Department of Management Technology and the Department of Economics and Finance. However, at the moment, the School operates Department of Accountancy, Banking & Finance, Economics, Information and Management Technology and Library and Information Science. The first sets of students were admitted in the 2000/2001 session into five programmes as follows;-

  1. B. Sc. (Accounting)
  2. B. Sc (Banking & Finance)
  3. B. Sc (Economics)
  4. B. Tech (Information Technology)
  5. B. Sc Management Technology
  6. B. Tech (Library Science)

6. School of Technology and Science Education (STSE): The School of Technology and Science Education (STSE) came on board during the 1999/2000 academic year.  It was the realization of a dream arising from an apparent need to meet both local and national educational desires in our education system.  Hitherto, our programmes had been run under the former School of Science and Technology Education (SSTE) in a single department, known as Department of Technology Education.  With the birth of the new school, STSE programmes were run in two departments – Department of Technology Education and Department of Science Education as follows:
                (a)            Department of Science Education:
The programmes in this department include:
i.              Biology Education
ii.             Chemistry Education
iii.            Geography Education
iv.            Mathematics Education
v.             Physics Education
vi.            Statistics Education

(b)           Department of Technology Education
The programmes in this department include:
i.              Agricultural Technology Education
ii.             Business Education
iii.            Construction Technology Education
iv.            Electrical/Electronics Technology Education

  • Mechanical Technology Education

In all, there were eleven undergraduate degree programmes offered in the school at the inception as outlined above.  However, the Department of Technology Education was split into two separate departments in 2006 for administrative convenience as follows:
a.             Department of Technology Education:
The programmes under this department include:
–               Construction Technology Education
–               Mechanical Technology Education
b.             Department of Vocational Education:
The programmes under this department include:

  • Agricultural Technology Education
  • Business Education
  • Home Economics Education

Furthermore, the Technology Education Department was split into two separate departments in 2008 as follows:
a.             Department of Electrical Technology Education:
The programmes include the following:
–               Electrical (Power) Technology Education
–               Electronics Technology Education
–               Electronics/computer Technology Education (Yet to start)
–              Telecommunications Technology Education (Yet to start)

b.             Department of Technology Education:
The programmes include the following:
–               Construction Technology Education
–               Mechanical (Auto) Technology Education
–               Mechanical (Production) Technology Education
–               Wood Technology Education (Yet to start)
–               Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Technology Education (Yet to start).
The stated two departments, Department of Electrical Technology Education and Vocational Education formally took off during the first semester of 2008/2009 session.

In summary, there are currently (as at 2014/2015 academic session) four departments in the School and the undergraduate degree programmes run in each department are follows:

–               Electronics Technology Education

2.             Department of Science Education
i.              Biology Education
ii.             Chemistry Education
iii.            Physics Education
iv.            Mathematics Education
v.             Statistics Education

3.             Department of Technology Education
i.              Construction Technology Education
ii.             Mechanical (Auto) Technology Education
iii.            Mechanical (Production) Technology Education

4.             Department of Vocational Education
–               Agricultural Technology Education
–               Business Education
–               Home Economics Education

In addition to the undergraduate programmes indicated above, all the four departments also run postgraduate degree and diploma programmes as follows:

ii.             Master of Technology (M. Tech) in Industrial Technology Education
iii.            Postgraduate Diploma in Technology Education (PGDTE)

ii.             Master of Education (M. Ed) in Education at Management
iii.            Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)

Department of Vocational Education
i.              Doctor of Philosophy (PGD) in Agricultural Education
ii.             Master of Technology (M. Tech.) In Agricultural Education
